When it comes to the treatment of psychiatric disorders, sometimes it’s not about reinventing the wheel – it’s about making sure you have a place to park.
A common hurdle for physicians looking to treat patients with TMS is a lack of both equipment and facilities. As TMS emerges further into the mainstream, Revitalist wants to support providers in the interest of their patients to ensure everyone gets the treatment they need.
With Revitalist’s new community outreach program, medical physicians can utilize state-of-the-art TMS equipment and facilities for their own patients. This way, you can provide greater access to services without having the burden of increased overhead costs.
TMS therapy is:
Non-invasive: When considering treatment for patients diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) – a once-common approach – works by applying a brief electrical pulse to the brain that medically induces a seizure. ECT is performed in a hospital under anesthesia and can be associated with numerous side effects. In comparison, TMS is gentle and non-systemic with few known side effects associated. Patients can drive to their treatment facility, receive treatment, and return to their daily activities afterward.
Non-pharmaceutical: TMS therapy is non-systemic. Antidepressants are systemic. The body absorbs antidepressants into the bloodstream, which can cause drug-related side effects such as weight gain, drowsiness, sleeplessness, stomach upset, or sexual problems.
